Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

My Family Footprint
There are 5 people in my family and it is a big family in China. My family footprint is larger than the average family. The lights we use at home, the water, food and transportations... There are so many things that produce carbon. So I think I should pay more attention to the behaviors at home. I should always turn off the lights when I leave a room because I often forget to do it. My mom was angry once because I forgot to turn off the lights when I leave my bedroom and go out. I should also take a shorter shower to save water. And because I loving eating, I should order and buy food just enough for everyone because we shouldn't waste food. One thing I think my family do well is we seldom use air-conditioner in summer and it save energy. I hope my family members and I will continue doing well and make our environment better by doing little things.
I agree with you when you say that using the air conditioner less will help save energy. I am also getting the message across to my family that we need to take the initiative to help save the planet.
