Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

My Family Usage
To reduce my family footprint, we should take showers that are 5-10 minutes or less to conserve water. Also, we shouldn't use the house heater as much during the winter, but instead we could use small heaters only when we need them. To make our home energy efficient, we should turn off the lights every time we go to another room or leave and only turn on lights and things that need electricity only when needed.
Wow! good idea sir
Thank you Logan, appreciate the enthusiasm!
This sounds very similar to my family. My father esecially makes sure our house is as sustainable as possible. We always make sure to do routine things such as taking short showers, turning off lights when we dont need them and other things like that. Our house was also installed with solar panels to try and get the most effecient and reusable energy.
Sounds like a great way to conserve water, in my house hold we use the excess water from showers to water our plants and to maintain household plants. During the summer we sleep with cold paper towels on our head to maintain our body's heat this uses less electricity for the heater and allows for sustainability.
These are great ideas. Im going to try these with my family like turning the light off when we leave a room and shortening my showers
This is a good way to conserve water and it would help the world so much.
