Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?
MY Family Footprint >
Upgrading
Hello, I think the reason so many families have such a high carbon footprint is because they have older houses and never upgraded to the 21st century. Like if they still have a whole bunch of incandescent light bulbs in their homes installed or have old refrigerators, freezers, or any old appliances that they use, which takes about 16% of the home's electricity to work. The way to reduce that is by RECYCLING your old appliances and upgrading to a more efficient appliances. And by doing that that will save around 1,000 kWh with just the appliances alone. So if your family footprint is high try to lower it by just buying LED light bulb to save energy. Thank You
