MY Family Footprint

Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!

If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

My Carbon Footprint from OR, USA

My carbon footprint was lower compared to others in my region. My carbon footprint was estimated to be 8,034 kg of CO2 a year compared to the US average of 10,370 kg. Most of it came from transportation since everyone in my family has their own car. Because I play sports, I have to drive there and back to practice multiple times a week. Although my transportation higher than the average, every other category was below or at average

This was a problem for me too. I have soccer practice way out of the way twice a week which is a main cause of my carbon footprint. One thing that reduce your overall carbon footprint would be to start a carpool. This could help lower the amounts of carbon dioxide waste. Although it can be difficult to organize, it's worth it to help the planet!
