Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

My Family Footprint
I've always been aware that my family and I are contributing to the amount of carbon in the atmosphere, but I never really knew what behaviors have such a dramatic change on my carbon footprint. Simply eating less meat and more local and organic foods can drastically reduce your carbon footprint. Same goes for showering. If I were to take colder, shorter showers, I could reduce my carbon footprint. I used to think one had to buy expensive solar panels and use compost toilets to reduce their carbon footprint, but the smallest of changes can have the biggest impacts. Simply buying new light bulbs, eating healthier, turning off the lights, composting, taking shorter showers, etc. can help save our planet from climate change.
