Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

My family footprint
Hello my name is Sterling Stokes and I am a freshman at bishop O’Dowd High school in Oakland CA. My carbon footprint in transportation is 4,185 this surpasses the average California footprint. I take the bus to school three out of the five days in the school week. What can I do to lower the CO2?
I think that you should carpool instead of taking the bus. This way your transportation footprint will decrease.
Good job Sterling. I take the bus every day of the school week. taking the bus even 1 day out of the school week greatly decreases your C02 footprint. Some of the busses the AC transit has are very eco friendly.
Sterling I like how you take the bus as a substitute instead of driving to school and wasting CO2. Since you take the bus 3 out of the 5 days what about you carpool the other two days to save even more.
Hello Sterling, even taking the bus 3 out of 5 days can greatly decrease your carbon footprint. Every car off the road is decreasing traffic and helping your ecosystem. Also, understand that you play lots of basketball and spend lots of time traveling to related events. To greater decrease your carbon footprint in this area you can carpool to practice and consider other methods of transportation to travel occasions.
