MY Family Footprint

Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!

If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

What you and your Family Can do to help.

Using our own vehicles to drive us to the places we need to go is really affecting climate change.  The gas cars that most of the world has emits a lot of CO2. Even though people have the option of getting a hybrid car that doesn’t emit as much CO2, people still seem to think that the gas car is more reliable.  Also, many buses in the country are starting to become electric or hybrid. The bus company is starting to help get rid of CO2, but what can the normal population do to help.
The obvious answer to this question is to get a hybrid/electric car, but some people can’t afford this types of cars or aren’t ready to shift yet. Some solutions to this are to drive less and to turn off your engine when it isn’t needed.
Sometimes people often drive to places where they can easily walk or bike. If you use your  car at these times, you are adding a lot of unneeded CO2 into the atmosphere. Walking or biking could really help in the long run.
Taking these small steps are vital for keeping the effects of climate change to a min imum. Please help save the earth.
