Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

Family holiday on the bike
Every single year, me and my family are going on vacation. Most of the time, we use our personal car and we travel about 3000 km per year. It is quite a lot, considering that a lot of gas is consumed and therefore, we are eliminating a very large amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
After I have done this questionnaire I have analyzed the results well, I have realized how an impact on the environment can have our "small family holiday". That's why me and my family analyzed the situation very well and I proposed to the family that it can be a good idea for us to go on vacation on the bike. At first, they believe it was a strange idea, but they were curious about the whole this new situation and finally they said…. "Why not?"
With this attitude, I want to encourage "bicycle tourism", because in my view it has many advantages that favor the movement, being a active person, improving our immune system. Moreover, I strongly consider that the time spent with the family is more precious in that way and the environment is protected and not exposed so much pollution as well. Altough, bicycle tourism is not so well known and well-regarded in all countries, many people see this practice with a lot of advantages. In the end, I have a single question that crosses my mind: Are we making a change?
Stefan - that's a great idea, and you initiating the conversation with your family is the first step in making change on a larger scale. well done!
