Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

I would live near the lake because I could get fresh water. I could purify it and catch fish. If I needed some other materials or food I would go to the store and buy some. I would also put my scraps in the compost pile so it can ture into rich soil. With that soil I could use it to put in my garden. I would live a good distance from school so I could bike instead of driving. For going to the store I would use my electric car. I would try to use solar pannels to control our electrisity, and I would want an water heater because I like my showers hot. For the lights in my house I will use led lights. Maybe to shop for a few more items I would go to a local farmers market.
