Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

My Family Footprint
My house will be one mile away from school, and 3 miles away from work, as well as the city in which all other needs are located. All my family members will be able to ride bikes or walk wherever needed. When we do have to drive, we use a hydrogen powered van. On our roof we have 10 solar power panels, and a 12 by 12 foot roof garden. We live right by the ocean, so we have a solar powered desalination plant right by our house, so we can drink ocean water. Our toilets are filled with salt water, and to get our food we fish or hunt game in the hunting park by our house. We have a milk cow, goats, chickens, and 5 horses. We use LED lights, and only turn on our air conditioning and heater if it goes below 60 °F and 77 °F. We make our own soap, butter, cheese, and repairs.
Woops, I forgot to say I'd use and electric car, and I'd also have a compost bin
