Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

My Family Footprint
If I was able to choose where my house would be I would choose it an area where the house in the middle of a school and a transit. I would get my food from the food market or a grocery store. From electricity, I would have solar power, where I would get energy from the sun. And that my family footprint.
I understand why you chose to have your own house near a school and transit because you can walk to school and also take public transportation instead of distributing more co2 into the atmosphere by using a car. But my question is what about the co2 from transit and school emissions? Your house would be surrounded near tons of co2. You would live near a busy road with cars passing by to take their children to and from school or public transportation vehicles constantly driving and burning fossil fuels. Also you would be near a school containing at least 300 or more students, I'm guessing, contributing to co2 in that area by breathing out carbon dioxide. But your way is a reasonable way to contribute less to your family footprint ![]()
