MY Family Footprint

Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!

If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

My environment healthy home

If I had my own home, I would live as near as possible to everything I go to daily/weekly. For example: school, friends houses, good cafés and restaurants, a nice park, etc.. I would also have solar panels to use an inexhaustible energy source. I would not own a gas burning stove or furnace, or cows. I might also try to live near a river and use hydroelectric wheels and have a good amount of acreage for a healthy ecosystem and a home garden. I would probably walk or ride a dirt bike everywhere I could.

I agree with Benjamin E(USA) BOD3ZA about having an environment and a healthy home. It would be great to live next to things you must frequently go to. Using solar panels will save energy, and get the same production of energy as an inexhaustible energy source would give you. The solar panels contract the heat from the surface which also is a more useful way to even save some money as well. Using a hydroelectric wheel can give you more water from a river or a lake by consuming less man power. I believe that using solar panels and hydroelectric wheels can make your life better and so much more efficient.

I'm sorry; I meant I'll ride a bike. Dirt bikes are fun but I'm trying to be carbon free.
