Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

My family footprint
For my family footprint I really realized how large my carbon footprint is compared to the average. I had never really thought about it before but once I saw it I instantly thought of things I could change. Some things I came up with that would be really easy to fix is putting in more energy efficient lightbulbs, buying more homegrown things, and also buying clothes that may be used. I then realized that changing my life and reducing my carbon footprint may actually not be as hard as I thought.
I agree with you, there are so many things that we could do do reduce our footprint. LED bulbs would definitely help, but we need to do more, shut lights off, take shorter showers, use less energy heating water. And use phones less, all of those things are easy!
