Many students using our footprint calculator said that they could not pledge to reduce their home footprints because they were not making the decisions for the household. Here is your chance to design your own sustainable virtual household!
If you had your own home, what would you do to make it more energy efficient? Where would you get your electricity from? Where would your house be? Would you live near to your school or work or local transit options? Where would you get your food from?

A healthy Carbon Home
In order to keep a carbon friendly home you have to be aware of how to prevent yourself from emoting carbon to the atmosphere. Some main things would be transportation, kitchen appliances, and food or things you buy. Firstly, it is so important that you are aware of how much CO2 your vehicles put into the atmosphere. Cartalk.com says that the average car emits 20 pounds of CO2 a day and 7 tons of CO2 a year. The more you can reduce this number the better. So try to ride your bike or walk when passible , carpool with others. You can even change the car or type of gas you use. Secondly the things you buy from stores like plastic water bottles, chip bags and grocery bags are all one use items. These are latter melted burnt or deposed of in some way. This releases a huge amount of CO2 into the atmosphere and buying reusable items like a metal water bottle or a reusable shopping bag will reduce the amount of items destroyed and the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. Last ly, the kitchen appliances you use like a stove or grill burn CO2 into the atmosphere so using electric appliances would do the trick.
I feel as though we should petition for a more renewable way to provide food to our world. Maybe the use of paper and cartoons for all food?
