How much does eating locally-produced food help the climate problem? What are the other potential environmental and social benefits of eating locally-grown/produced food? Do you have a food garden in your school or at home? If not, do you want one?
Home Grown >
Home Grown is Better
These days many producers have lost site on what is important about our food, they focus on how fast they can grow it, and how big they can make it. Instead we should be focused on how harmful the pesticides and other chemicals are for our bodies and the environment. Chemical farming has a large impact on the climate, chemical farmers (most the food at a grocery store) use more energy than a organic farm (home grown or local). Not to mention the transportation of the food we buy in stores would have an effect on the environment as well. I think having a home garden is beneficial for everyone, you know what's in your food. I have a garden at home, its been very successful, we have chickens that keep the bug problem down.
