How much does eating locally-produced food help the climate problem? What are the other potential environmental and social benefits of eating locally-grown/produced food? Do you have a food garden in your school or at home? If not, do you want one?

How much will it cost for you to notice?
My name is Krystal Hong and I currently attend Oakland High School as a senior, also I am apart of the Environment Science Academy. I am here to talk about buying locally produced food and how it helps with our climate problem.
Buying from your local produce store causes more CO2 in our environment because the energy it uses is a lot more than the ones produced in farmers markets. The energy used for the produce in the local stores causes CO2 emissions because of burning coal. They use this energy to help package the food and deliver it to the stores. This harms the atmosphere, which causes the climate to change fromso much CO2 emissions in the air. I encourage people to buy from our local farmers market for produce because it will help with CO2 and the climate. It might cost a little more, but how much will it cost for you to notice that its hurting where we live?
