How much does eating locally-produced food help the climate problem? What are the other potential environmental and social benefits of eating locally-grown/produced food? Do you have a food garden in your school or at home? If not, do you want one?

Growing around the city
I live in the U.S. and i realised in many other countries many people eat community grown foods. Where i live most people only eat imported fods transphered here by planes(powered by fossil fules) or trucks (powered by fossil fules). It realeases alot of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere making my reigon's carbon foot print greater. I think if we grow vegetation in convienent places such as , under highways, or in old bottles or boots. It would reduce the carbon foot print, not just in my communty but in communities everywhere.
That's a really good idea! My dad used to grow a garden in our backyard using containers we never used anymore. It's nice to know that he was doing good for our environment and not just being cheap.
I live in Romania and also in my contry people eat imported foods. It's not good, i thing people should eat bio food because in this way they will maintain healthy.
This would be a great idea to incorporate community gardens! The only problem I can see with growing food under highways is the waste from cars and trucks that go by, with all the emissions from the cars being washed into the soil. Is there a way to prevent that?
Probably a way to prevent that is to not plant under highways. It could be planted in a more isolated or healthy environment for the crops to grow in. Fields and farms are a great place to plant and even in your backyard. I agree with the initial statement, but the location of the crops should be thought out much more carefully.
