How much does eating locally-produced food help the climate problem? What are the other potential environmental and social benefits of eating locally-grown/produced food? Do you have a food garden in your school or at home? If not, do you want one?

Home Garden & Local Food

People in my city are used to buying everyday vegetables or food from the market. Which are cheap and fresh as these needs are planted locally, and they don't need to transport from a far distance. In this way, we can reduce an amount of pollute CO2. But as food safety problem keep happening during these few years, the frequency of people buying import food is increasing. This makes further for us reaching "Carbon green" in our lives. So I have been wondering that people could have their own garden whether is on the rooftop, or on the empty ground beside the house. Basically, this could be the safest way providing food to our own. On the other hand, this could also help with the climate change relate to the global issue. Plants are able to turn CO2 into O2 when they are doing photosynthesis.
In general, it is easier for us to reach environmentally friendly while we are buying foods from the local market or plant our own food.  In these few ways, we can make our world better.

I think that this is a big issue in my communtity also. There aren't that many local  farmers markets in the big city where I live. People get used to buying produce and they don't think about the effects on the enviorment. There has been efforts in some communities that I have seen, such us community gardens and such. They end up never working out due to the extremly hot wheather where i live. I think this issue is extremly important.

I agree. In most cities, people do not have the space to grow their own garden, but if people came together and had local markets, it would make the city more efficient in a small way. I know that I live in a rural area and I am able to grow my own garden, and this definitely helps lessen my carbon footprint. I also compost which is a part of it too.
