All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
There's a lot of pessimism about going green.
It might be an obvious statement but it can't be stressed how ridiculous it is those always want to poke holes in something that no matter how you view it would have a net positive effect on the world the places we live. I can't simply understand how people aren't thrilled by the idea of possibly having 100% renewable energy sustainability eventually. It would shape the foundation of the future, our technology, people, and politics for the better as a whole. I for a fact can safely say I have never breathed the fresh air we all deserve growing up. Why not do everything we can do about it because together we can do everything about it and conversation truly is growing tiresome.
I agree that the pessimism about going green is largely unfounded (as a Thai person, everyone I know supports environmental action, even the conservatives), but there is some justification for that attitude. Going fully green would bring a massive change to society, and while this change would definitely be a net positive, there would be some negative effects. Many jobs in the coal and oil industry would be eliminated, and it would cost money. Moreover, as humans, we have a natural resistance to change.
