What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Eating less red meat
A big part of climate change is because of the over breeding and eating of red meat. If we all try to replace meat with another planted based protein or even just tired to eat a little less of it, it would make a great impact for the better. Also a lot of grains and vegetables are used to feed animals to produce meat. If we didn’t use all of the food to feed the red meat animals, we could use it for people without food.
I’m going to try to cut 45% of red meat out of red meat out of my weekly diet.
I agree with WyattFT. If we completely cut meat out of our diets overall we would be healthier and our planet would be too. In general, people who eat meat use 160 percent more land than people who do not eat meat. Over the next 30 years, the population will grow, this is a given. But did you know that JJ Dolm, the author of "Shut the Front Door! If We Ate Less Meat, This Is What Would Happen to the Planet" claims that scientists estimate that our population will grow at a rapid pace and reach 11 billion people by 2100? This is a huge number and if we keep growing livestock at the pace we do now we will not have enough room on our Earth to feed both people and livestock. One solution to this problem is to simply stop eating so much meat! If people stopped eating as much meat as they do now we could use the 30 percent of the world that is currently being used to grow livestock and use it for people's homes. Dolm states that with 260 acres we can either have 250 pounds of beef or 50,000 pounds of tomatoes, up to 53,000 pounds of potatoes or 30,000 pounds of carrots, which one is better. If we did decide to choose the plant-based option we would end up saving energy, water, and land. 2, 644 gallons of water are used to produce 3 pounds of meat while just 357 gallons of water are being used to produce 3 pounds of potatoes. If one person gave up meat they would be saving 162,486 gallons of water annually. This one person's water that they would be saving would be able to be used by 445 people because an average person needs one gallon a day of clean drinking water to be healthy. Only 2.7 billion people have that luxury. These are some reasons why cutting meat out of your diet would help the planet and many others.

I do agree with you HCasey-HousandBOD2 but cutting meat completely out of our diet is not possible but reducing the amount we eat and the more vegan/vegetarian foods we eat can be possible
I agree with WyattFT that people should consider the amount of red meat they consume a day. Many people don’t realize that the amount of meat we consume has an effect on our environment. In the article “How does eating meat harm the environment?” it states that “meat-eating as one of the biggest environmental hazards facing the Earth.” All this soil and water we are wasting on these animals we’re eating can be used to grow crops for us to eat. Farmers grow all these crops such as oats. Although, instead of it going directly to us it goes to the livestock to feed them so we can eat them.

I suggest we start eating crickets. They are nutritious and easy to raise.
I think everybody should eat less meat. It has really good effect on our earth. It would also help with world hunger. I really need to take out more meat out of my diet.
I agree, we need to eat less red meat. the meat industry has made a very big impact on climate change and is making things very bad. I personally don't like meat and I take months where I don't eat any meat. I think people should do the same because it would help with world hunger and climate change
