Extreme Weather

In the Northern Hemisphere in 2017 and 2018 brought several destructive hurricanes to the shores of North America, the Caribbean, and throughout the Pacific rim. Such extreme weather events are predicted to get more common and more severe with increasing climate change.

Several participating classes in the ISCFC were or are in the path of these storms and we hope for the best for them, their families and communities.

We would love to hear from students affected directly and indirectly by extreme weather events, and also any students who have been following the news this summer.

What are your thoughts about the connection between climate change and extreme weather events? Has this hurricane season increased your concern about climate change or not? Do you think that US citizens and residents (and others in the region) will take climate change more seriously now?

extreme weather has got a lot worse in the last few years. its probably becouse of pollution and climate change that made it worse and we chould take action as soon as possible!for example we can stop using cars etc for traveling and instead use bikes or go somewhere by foot. we can also make as little waste as possible.

Hello nika12346, I agree that it has gotten a lot worse in the past few years. we can also tell that the weather is getting worse is because when its supposed to rain it doesn't, when its supposed to be hot it isn't. and we all get confused like " Why is it so hot in December or January". An example of extreme weather is when the Australia fires hit, the fires were so big it was as big as South Korea according to, https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/ … clnk&gl=us. Let me know what you guys think about the Australia fires.

I agree with you, the weather here in Iceland has at least been very bad past few weeks. Like you said, we should decrease usage of ours cars and only use them in needs. We should rather go by foot or use bikes.
