It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

How I will improve my carbon footprint.
The main problem I have with my carbon footprint is the amount I waste from my home (2,507kg). An easy and immediate way I can improve my home's carbon is by switching my light bulbs to LEDs or by adding a compost bin to my kitchen. LED bulbs produce 451 kg while the CFL bulbs (I mostly have in my home) produce 1,051 kg yearly. By switching to LED bulbs, I can yearly remove approximately 600kg. By adding a compost bin to my kitchen, I will also be able to limit the amount of carbon wasted burning and removing compostables from the trash/recycling. On average, 28% of things that are thrown away are compostable. So, by introducing an indoor compost system, I will be able to sustainably remove approximately 28% of trash that would otherwise go towards landfill versus the environment.
