What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Beef Consumption
In my ecology class, we learned about how the beef industry creates a lot of methane. It also takes up over 30% of the world's water, as well as creating over 51% of the world's carbon emissions. Rainforests are also cut down just for land for these cows, which wild animals then experience habitat loss. There are so many other sustainable sources of protein, so why eat beef? I feel like this topic isn't talked about in the news much, so it doesn't collect much attention, but it is a very important topic.
