What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Climate change is driving world hunger
According to a 2018 report by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO),
climate change is among the leading causes of rising global hunger. The authors show how extreme weather conditions such as land degradation and desertification, rising sea levels and water scarcity, as a result of climate change, is undermining attempts to stop global hunger. In 2017, the number of people living in world hunger reached 812 million. The article states that if we don’t tackle the problem of climate change this number will continue to grow.

This is an interesting idea and I agree with your point and article. As of 2018, the United Nations reported that world hunger has risen for the third year in a row. Because of the rising numbers of natural disasters, as you mentioned, farmland is devastated and many local farmers find themselves unable to grow food, leaving smaller communities with nothing. Agriculture is an industry that requires very accurate conditions to be successful, and climate change has made that nearly impossible. The carbon emissions which each of us produce contribute to climate change. Many people are unconscious of their carbon footprint, especially those who live a privileged life. However, we as a society have to be more aware that our emissions are making it harder for those living in poverty to get the food they need to live.
