What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

I believe that the leading cause of environmental destruction is livestock. Did you know that nearly all the methane in the air is due to livestock? There is no denying that eating animal products is not good for our environment, so why are we still doing it? I think that many people are scared to make the change, this includes myself. No one is perfect and that's ok, as long as we are all trying our best. Are you tired of nagging youre family to eat more plant based? Do you feel like you are getting nowhere? I would recommend you show them the movie "Cowspiracy". It's extremely educational, and informative on the truth about the animal agriculture industry.
True, livestock plays a huge role in our environment and the destruction of it but I believe it is more industry based. If people ate less meat I believe that would help, but I also believe hunting, growing your own food, and raising / butchering your own meat.
i feel that even though live stock is releasing methane, i feel that having the live stock is the least of our worries when it comes to carbon. i feel that we should be more focused on the leading causes of carbon releases such as burning fossil fuels.
I agree with every statement. Environmental destruction is caused by the livestock. People waste so much food a day, that when the trash just sits there, in the garbage the methane is released into the air. Which in turn creates health problems and air problems. Every year billions of dollars of food are wasted everyday. While we are wasting food many third world countries are starving. We need to be part of the solution not the problem. America is doing our part in helping with wasting of food, and the release of methane into the air by educating Americans on the dangers of wasting food, and things we can do to help. It is called the Winning on Reducing Food Waste Initiative.
