What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food's carbon footprint

The food we eat adds to our carbon footprint because of the footprint created while caring for, transporting, and disposing of the waste. Eating meat adds substantially to one's carbon foot print. The meats that add the most to ones carbon foot print are beef and pork. Plants also add to the carbon, but not as much as meats. This is an area that is hard to lower the carbon footprint in because many people eat and love meat. Because of this I think the best way to create smaller carbon footprint from food is to educate people on the side effects of eating meat, so they understand why they should limit the meat they eat. This may not limit the amount of meat that the world eats by a lot, but it may spread it out across the world to feed the hungry. For example the food that we would no longer need in places that have food would be able to go to place that don't have as much food.

I strongly agree with this. It is mind-blowing how many people don't have food and to add to that idea how much food is wasted. according to https://www.epa.gov/recycle/reducing-wasted-food-home about 94% of the food we throw away ends up in differnt trash facilities. In 2017, 38.1 million tons of food was wasted. Just imagine if this food was somehow transferred to people who need it. In conclusion lots of people don't have food and most of the food we eat is sadly wasted. This brings up the question; how can we waste less food or somehow make a system to give people who need food, food?
