Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

An important and easy way that you reduce your carbon footprint is to follow the three R's, reduce, reuse, and recycle.  To start it is important to reduce meaning using less single use plastics and other products in the first place. Plastic has a very harmful impact on the environment and can hurt the plants and animals who end up surrounded by it. Plastic also takes a lot of energy and gases to be made and takes a very long time to break down. So, by replacing plastics and limiting the amount of things you buy you can limit your carbon footprint. Another simple way to reduce is to turn off the lights when you leave your house or make sure you never leave the water running if you aren't using it.  To reuse, you can purchase reusable products like mason jars, or bring your own bags to the grocery store. And finally recycling is important because products can be used again instead of ending up in the landfill. Creating compost and recycling bins in your house is an easy way to help the environment so that products can be disposed of properly. All of these things are very simple tasks, but doing them can have a large positive impact on the environment. Although it may not seem like it but just one person changing their habits can make a big difference.
