How Meat affects Climate Change
The United States is one of the largest producers of meat in the world. According to drovers.com, last year the United States produced 103.3 billion pounds of meat. What most people don't know is the environmental impacts of producing meat. In a 2009 study, scientists concluded that meat production was responsible for half of the world's greenhouse emissions. The factories in which meat is produced are dangerous for workers, who sometimes work long hours in a threatening workplace. Cutting down consumption of meat will help slow the effects of climate change. the carbon footprint of a vegetarian diet is about half of the footprint of a meat based diet. reducing consumption of meat will benefit the environment by significantly reducing carbon emissions and making the world a healthier place
