What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food and hunger
It is a very good idea to cute down on beef and dairy consumption. Lots of grains and water are needed to raise and feed these cows. These important resources could be used to feed much of the many people that are going hungry. Acres and acres of important rainforests are being cut down to raise these cows. Cows also release lots of methane into the air.
I definitely agree that meat consumption must decrease as a whole. My relationship with food has changed drastically since I was younger. As I grew up, I began to understand how my body reacted to different food and with that reaction, I changed many of my eating habits. This specifically relates to red meat and meat in general. I found red meat to make me feel sluggish while working out, whereas chicken and lean meats had the opposite affect. My carbon footprint in regards to food has drastically decreased when I decided to make this switch. Though I still consume meat, I do find myself enjoying plant-based meatballs and burgers, rather than gorging in a dense hamburger. This comes to show not only can decreasing the consumption of meat help the environment, but for many, it can even increase your health.
