All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Stop Eating Meat
Eating meat doesn't just kill animals but is also one of the world's largest GHG contributors. According to a global assessment made by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, livestock emits 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. 65% of livestock emissions are produced solely from beef and dairy. Ruminant meat produces 250 times more greenhouse gasses per gram of protein than those of plant-based foods. Everything counts when it comes to climate change whether it is choosing not to get a burger at your favorite restaurant or saying no to meat altogether.
I agree with you. In fact, the process about the making of meat require a lot of water, for the production of only one kilogram of meat, 15,000 liters are needed. Meat is one of the largest distributors of greenhouse gases that negatively affect climate change. That's why it's necessary to stop eating meat, as you said, not only will it reduce the slaughter of a few animals, but it will also reduce a large share of greenhouse gas emissions. It is totally possible to reduce the consumption of meat because reducing meat consumption will not have a negative impact on human health. On the contrary, meat can be replaced by vegetable protein which can have positive effects on human health.
Actually, the reduction of meat consumption can not only have positive effects for the environment but also for human health.
I think consuming meat is harmful to the environment, they should change burger patties with veggies patty to save the environment.
I think that it will be pretty much impossible for everyone to stop eating meat, but I still do agree that not eating meat can help the environment. I just think we don’t need to be so extreme with it. It will still be beneficial to the environment if everyone doesn’t eat meat at least 3 days a week and it will be more likely to happen since the meat-eaters wouldn’t feel so attacked.
I think that if everybody were to stop eating meat, it would help a lot with the climate change but honestly, i don't think we could do that.
also if everyone stopped eating meat it would the animal population but its not possible for everyone to stop eating meat.
I think that everyone should be vegetarian or vegan. its good for the environment and also for our health. if everyone stopped eating meat the world would be a better place overall.
I agree with you that if we all stopped eating meat, the world would be a better place. However, to think more rationally, we could do our part by just reducing meat consumption as of now. I believe that even by reducing meat intake, we can make a huge difference. Meat and fish in small quantities can be a great source of protein for humans. According to Healthline.com, “Meat is an excellent source of protein and several vitamins and minerals, including vitamin B12, niacin, and selenium”. I understand that you can get protein in many other ways, but meat is one of the best sources. As I said above, reducing meat, especially red meat, can significantly impact your carbon footprint and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. According to NYTimes, “So, according to a study this month in the journal Scientific Reports, if everyone in the country reduced their consumption of beef, pork, and poultry by a quarter and substituted plant proteins, we would save about 82 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year”. I love animals and want to help stop climate change in the most ways possible, but it has been hard to cut meat from my diet entirely from personal experience. I respect people who are vegetarians and vegans, and I slowly hope to get there soon. For now, I have tried hard to cut the amount of meat I eat. I think reducing your meat intake to 2-3 days out of the week can keep you healthy and help the planet.

Yes I agree with you, but meat is good for our health.
For example : I suffer from anemia ( anemia is an abnormal drop in the level of hemoglobin in the blood). In the red meat, there is iron which is good to make anemia disappear. For it, I eat meat once a week. When I eat meat I fell better. Of course I don't consume a lot of meat.
However, I against to kill animals obviously
I dont agree with you in my opinion we are like all the other animals and we need to eat meats for being in good health
I think we shouldn't stop eating meat, but we should try to reduce. For example, we can eat vegetarian once a week at school.
I agree and disagree with this post. Eating meat can be a healthy thing and it can help with things like iron deficiency but as a community, we eat way too much meat which is what is causing all of these problems. The meat that we do eat should come from the wild not born and bred in factories especially cows because of the amount of methane that they release into the atmosphere. “To produce 1kg of wheat, 2.5kg of greenhouse gases are emitted. A single kilo of beef, meanwhile, creates 70Kg of emissions.” This fact in itself should be what tells people to stop factory farming meat, but if that’s not enough, meat production is responsible for ⅓ of the greenhouse gasses released into the air. Meat production is not only bad for the environment but for the animals as well, in factory farms animals are crammed together in cages way too small for them and fed food whose sole purpose is to make them fat, and then they are slaughtered. Climate change is real and it's predicted that if greenhouse gasses keep getting released into the environment at this rate then by the end of this century around ⅓ of natural food production will be at risk. This is not a drill, this is happening to our planet and we need to do something about it, you can start by cutting down or stopping your meat intake.
