Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

My Action: Personal Changes

weberm25

Some of the behaviors I would be open to changing are my use of temperature control mechanisms (such as fans, air conditioning, etc) and my use of lighting, which make up a lot of my carbon footprint. I think that one of the challenges I will face is the warm climate where I live, which may make it difficult to limit the use of fans/air conditioning. Also, there are many trees surrounding my house that occasionally make natural light less visible. However, if I saw more people changing their own habits and advocating for more changes, I would likely be much more motivated to make changes of my own. Ultimately, my life with these changes would be easier if I knew that my changes had an impact. Is there a habit that you would be willing to change?
