What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Ways to not waste food
Wasting food when it can be put to good purpose is not a good habit. It's always a good idea to get in the habit of feeding the leftovers to the dog or to a homeless person but never waste.
I totaly agree with you. A lot of people suffer from hunger, so why not give them our leflovers. It's not difficult and that can really help them. And if we can't give our leflovers to a homeless person, we can give them to the dog or another animal as you said !
Or another idea : we can also sort out our ribbish to recycle more !
