Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

My family eats a lot of meat and dairy products. This has a major impact on my carbon footprint, so to improve it I could reduce amounts of meat we eat and find healthy alternatives. My family could also start buying more locally and organic food.

Hey hailey! my family is like the same... we eat a lot of meat. I think other solution is to eat seasonally meat or that kind of food. I think we  dont necessarily need to eliminate meat like forever haha, we can sometimes eat meat and others more plants and healthy products.

Hey hailey! That true, meat is one of the biggest polluters. I recommend trying out different foods and vary it a little, this doesn’t mean you can’t eat it anymore but you and your family should regulate it a bit. Salads are very healthy and don’t have much impact on the carbon footprint and that way you can accomplish what you have proposed your self to buy more organic food!

Hello Hailey!
My family eats a lot of meat as well. Something that I try to do is replace it with fish. This will lower your carbon footprint because fishes don't require farming or livestock much like cows or pigs. Fishes also have the lowest carbon footprint out of all the proteins. I suggest eating salmon or white fish!!

Hello Hailey!
My family tries not to eat too much meat, and as much organic and local as we can...
We of course eat meat sometimes as everybody but we try to think about our future in order to reduce our footprint.

I tottaly agree w/ your parents because organic food is way more expensive than simple food but it's a way of thinking if it's worth it or not if u wanna live longer if u wanna your future kids to be healthy or not, and leave'em a good or sustainable quality of life.

Have a good day: @anto_rsl on instagram if u wanna talk.
