What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food And Hunger
I think that in the world, we have a lot of huger but not enough food for everyone because of over population, and the demand for food.
I agree with you that we don't have enough food for everyone thanks to the massive demand for food and overpopulation, especially in the areas with more people than there is food. Did you know that Tokyo is the most populated area in the world, followed by other cities like Delhi, Shanghai, and Cairo. These cities aren't going through a food shortage at the moment but their demand for food and other resources is extremely high. It is expected that there will be an increase in the demand for food by the year 2050, having the demand for food go from 59% to 98%. In one day, an average American adult eats roughly 5.46 pounds of food, adding up to 1996.3 pounds per year. Most of their diet is vegetables and fruits.
I also agree with both of you that we have not enough food for everyone and that the earth is overpopulated. One of the causes to this is because we use a lot of resources and food to feed cattle and livestock rather than using it to feed humans. The demand for food is also high (Like you said) so people are more likely to buy more food than they can eat instead of leaving the food for others. The farmers raising the livestock really don't have a choice to give the food for livestock away because they have to do their job and get meat ready for butchers and stores. We can solve world hunger by doing little things by donating to food banks or something big like buying just enough food to sustain you and your family instead of buying tons of food and letting them go to waste.
