Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

I think food waste is starting to become a big problem in the US now, I think that people waste too much food, as some people make a big meal, don't eat it all and throw away the rest of the food. I think we can stop this by giving our food that we don't want to eat to the people in need.

I agree. Instead of throwing the food that we don't want we could save it and back it up in decomposable plastic boxes and bring the food to a homeless shelter and give the packages to each person. When they are don with the food they could put the plastic container in the trash and if they don't the container would be able to decompose.
