All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Small things make a difference!
Some people think "What's really the point, nothing I do will make a difference. I'm just one person". Thats not true! If everything thinks this way nothing will ever change. Little things will make a difference. Imagine if everyone stopped littering. That would make a huge difference. If you have a fixed mindset like that humans aren't going to get anywhere. It's easy. If you just reuse and recycle your things you are already making a difference. Doing something is better than doing nothing.
I completely agree. While our individual actions alone might not make that significant of an impact, everyone's actions combined are more powerful that some people might think they are. I've heard people make excuses like "Well, other people are littering, so it doesn't matter if I do too", but it does matter because everything that we do, whether they're small or big things, adds up in the end.
Definitely agree. All big movements start off small, even if your one individual action may seem unimpactful you have to remember that that's just the first step. Going into this mindset of trying to make a change, your small steps are just stepping stones to bigger and better goals that will grow with you as a person. You can always share your goals with other around you as well, and thats where the idea of all coming together to create change really comes in. Global change doesn't occur overnight, but our own individual changes can, and that really is the first step to global change.
Agreed. Not only will your actions help and make a difference, I think it can help you grow as a person as well. Doing something impactful can be so inspiring and make you feel good and if you're able to let people try and experience what you're doing to make a difference, they (along with the environment) will feel good too. Being able to change as an individual for the better can be hard but I think that if you're able to do it and inspire other people to change as well, it makes your actions worth it.
I completely agree. This is exactly the same when people say "It's just one small piece of garbage, it won't do anything." If everyone does it it's not just a small problem anymore. Most big organizations started by one person or a few people. Everything you do makes a difference. It doesn't matter if it's big or small, it still counts.
Yes I totally agree the small things do matter, we don't need to be perfect but at least try to make the small changes because if everyone does it, it'll make a big difference in the end.
I realized I need to make a lot of changes. I should eat less fast food. I should turn off my lights when I done using them. I need to use more resuable fod ans water containers. I need to be better at recycling. I need to take quicker showers as well.
Indeed. Every little thing helps when it comes to eating less or composting, it will help.
I definitely agree with this and I think that anything can make a difference at this point.
I agree. Doing helpful things such as recycling and reusing can make a difference, and it helps you feel better about yourself too.
