All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Renewable Resources
We need to convert to renewable resources ASAP & stop being dependent on sources like coal & other fossil fuels that inflict harm onto our ozone & atmosphere! The longer we wait, the harder it's gonna be to try & resolve the damage we've done!
Yes, I completely agree, we need to stop using non-renewable fuel sources, and start using renewable resources like wind, solar and hydro power. We have the technology to be more energy efficient the only thing holding us back is laziness and the refusal to change. it very important to make the switch to renewable energy, especially with the big oil companies harvesting oil from under the ocean, destroying not only our atmosphere but our oceanic ecosystems as well. Now is the time for action, we need to stop these unhealy practices now, or it might be too late.
I concur with having to transition to renewable energy immediately. We have the technology to be efficient on renewable energy in most areas of life, so it's important for us to start transitioning now. Although it may have some effects on the economy short term, we won't have an economy in a century if we keep going at our current pace.
Alongside switching to renewable energy, we should also try to lessen our consumption of animal products, if possible, because of the effects of animal agriculture. They are the cause of over 51% of carbon emissions on Earth. If everybody lessened their animal byproduct consumption just a little, it would make a huge difference. This is especially important in America where the average amount of meat consumed per year is about 100kg per person compared to the global average of 41Kg.
