What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

Food Insecurity
Food insecurity is the lack of access of having affordable, nutritious food. In our communities, food insecurity plays a huge, detrimental role in contributing to world hunger. It targets low-income areas and prohibits them from being able to acquire fresh produce. Food must be produced and allocated equitably to alleviate this problem. Agriculture around the world is exhausting the soil to an enormous extent and over-producing. Yet, hundreds of millions of people in the world do not have food to eat. Overproduction and consumption must reduce to prevent food waste. Sustainable agriculture policies should be implemented worldwide and distributed to all regions and areas rather than the economically profitable ones. The consumption of bioavailable, healthy food is a human right. Everyone deserves to have access to it.
