Food & Hunger

What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?

925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

I learned that eating less meat, organic, and locally are great ways to lessen your carbon footprint when it comes to the food we eat. I think in order to help our world and the problems are extreme carbon usage, we should all try to eat less meat as it is one of the major causes for carbon emissions when it comes to our diet. I resize that not everybody can afford this lifestyle and not everybody has food available but we should all be more aware of our choices on food and the affect it has on the planet.

Similar to what you have stated, I believe that organic and locally grown foods are great ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Each week, we could try to alter the amount of meat we eat as well as vegetables and fruit. Making sure to have some vegetarian meals in our daily routines would definitely help with this issue.

I also agree with what you guys said, and I think that implementing more plant based of vegetarian meals would help lower Co2 emissions (meat production uses a lot) also organic foods use less Co2, and to add to that I think that eating out less and composting also will help a ton.
