What did you learn about dietary choices from using the footprint calculator? Now imagine that you could translate what you learned into an effective societal policy on food- what would it be? And how would this policy effect the need to alleviate world hunger?
925 million people on earth do not have enough to eat according to the FAO [Food and Agricultural Organization]. That's almost 1 in 7 inhabitants of our planet!

So I noticed my carbon footprint from food was the second highest thing that made up of my total footprint. I started to think of things I could do to lower it and being able to not waste as much food as I do currently. I thought about the difference between a vegan and non-vegans and how many tons of GHGs into the footprint. And with some research, I found out that "A meat lover’s diet has the highest carbon footprint at 3.3 tons of GHGs. A vegetarian’s carbon footprint is about 1.7 tons GHGs." Another thing is how to reduce or eliminate world hunger. A simple way is to go donate it to homeless people on the streets or go to a homeless shelter. I searched on google maps for the nearest homeless shelters and 3 results came up near where I live, and there's a lot more in San Diego. I would gladly go to donate my leftovers at home, but never really were able to.
