Reuse & Repurpose

It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Reusing and Repurposing

One of the main behaviors that most contribute to a high carbon footprint and high CO₂ emissions is the process of buying new and throwing away after one use. The World Bank writes that the world generates 2.01 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste annually. That means an average human generates about 0.74 kilograms of waste worldwide. One way to decrease this number is by reducing one's consumption of newly bought items. For example, reusing clothes from family members, friends, or even thrift stores can help. If something doesn't fit or is old, one can repurpose the item to make it more likable instead of buying new ones and throwing them away. Oberlo states that global e-retail sales are going to grow to up to $4.8 trillion by 2021. To conclude, reusing and repurposing doesn't only help the earth become a cleaner place, but also helps one become a better person by contributing to help the environment.

I never thought about repurposing things, but this is something small that we can all do to contribute to a better Earth. I wonder what happens to the items that we just throw away? In order to help lower the carbon dioxide emissions there should be a way that the waste managment can even reuse instead of just putting the items to waste.
