What's in an Engine & Why?
Aluminum Alloys

Aluminum alloys have good fluidity properties at cast temperature. It's thermal conductivity is 151 W/m-K° or 87 BTU/ft-h-F°, the higher the better. Typical industrial codes for casting aluminum alloys are either A390 T6, or A356.0 T6. The T6 is a heat treatment that changes the properties of the material.
