What's in an Engine
& Why? Connecting rods connect the piston to the crank shaft. The connecting rods are subjected to a lot of compressive stresses. Most connecting rods are make of medium carbon steels, which can be easily forged. In other applications, connecting rods can be made from aluminum or titanium. When aluminum is used 7075 T6 alloy is desired, because of it's tensile high strength. |
