What's in an Engine & Why?
Squeeze Casting

Squeeze casting is a combination of casting and forging. Molten metal is poured into the bottom of a preheated die. Then the upper die is lowered onto the lower die. A squeezing pressure is applied until the part is solid. Mechanical properties are enhanced, because this process limits pores created from solidification. Some advantages to squeeze casting are, detailed shapes can be formed and the amount of waste is reduced.
