New Process for On-Leave Status: Please read

Hello, Students, This online process through MyGrad replaces the old paper form for on-leave status.  Please note that you must maintain “on leave” status each quarter.

The new leave system is ready for use and the process is simple:

  1. Student submits the on-leave request via MyGrad-Student View:  http://grad.washington.edu/mygrad/student.htm
  2. Department approves the request from the task list on their MyGradProgram (MGP) main page (similar to petitions – no email notification will be sent to the department).
  3. For international students, the request is then sent to the International Student Services Office (ISS) for approval
  4. Student is notified by email to submit an online credit card payment for the quarterly $25 nonrefundable fee (only MasterCard or Visa may be used and there is no service charge for credit card use).  On-Leave status is not finalized until payment has been submitted, and must be completed by the last day of instruction for the quarter of leave requested.

Students with financial aid, loans, or enrolled in the Graduate Appointee Insurance Program (GAIP) should consult with the Office of Financial Aid or the UW Benefits Office to prevent a loss of aid, loan repayment, or benefit coverage.

Both GPAs and GPCs have been assigned the “Leave Request Approval” role in MGP.  Graduate programs will be allowed to a submit leave request and pay the leave fee on behalf of a student in MGP, but this feature is still being developed and we anticipate its release within the last week of October.  For additional information regarding On-Leave policies and procedures, please visit:  http://grad.washington.edu/policies/general/leave.shtml

Thank you, please let us know if you have any questions.
