NASW-WA Lobby Day – 2/18

NASW has a scheduled itinerary as well as built in time to get educated about the advocacy process and what we are advocating for.The day will go from 8:30am-2:45pm with pre-scheduled opportunities to, meet with Eric Pettigrew, Senator Ed Murray, and a Legislative aid of Frank Chop. Contact me if you would like to see the full itinerary.
The morning meeting will include breakfast from NASW and speakers who will provide information specific to the bills we will be lobbying for. If you are planning on going I would love to see you at this meeting to build some solidarity for the day. J The address is The United Churches of Olympia, 110 11th Avenue Southeast, Olympia, WA 98501. We will meet there at 8:30 – at least come to fuel up on complimentary breakfast and to be counted for the NASW contest:
The Social Work School with the most students represented will be awarded a plaque by NASW!
What bills is NASW-Washington supporting in this year’s legislative session?– Suicide prevention training for professionals- Housing surcharge; raising a real estate transaction fee from $30 – $40, which is expected to raise about $25 million for low-income housing services- Capital Gains Tax; make WA State tax structure more progressive!- Retired MH License- Preserve funding in state budget for chemical dependency treatment and mental health services as well as food assistance to our most needy families
