Puget Sound Sage: Paid spring break opportunity for Cantonese, Spanish, and Vietnamese speakers!

Puget Sound Sage is a non-partisan, non-profit policy organization, dedicated to understanding the regional labor market and advancing policies and practices that balance economic growth with economic justice. This survey research project seeks to gather primary data on one segment of low-wage workers in the region, and then to produce a white paper with policy recommendations. The volunteer or paid position is integral to this project, and to the organization’s mission of building an economy based on shared prosperity.
The core task of the students will be to recruit workers to take the survey, then administer the survey. Students will learn from the inside what a research project looks like, gathering primary data, and using it to inform and advance policy goals.

While most of the workers speak English and most surveys have been done in English, the survey has been translated into Chinese, Vietnamese and Spanish. Sage is especially looking for people who can read Chinese and speak Cantonese, or read and speak Vietnamese or Spanish.

We need students to work during spring break. They should be available for 3-4 hours of paid training on Monday, March 25, and then able to work at least three 6-8 hour shifts between Tuesday, March 26 – Sunday, March 31.

The ideal candidates are enthusiastic, positive, and persistent, with attention to detail. Must have access to a car, and will be reimbursed for a full tank of gas. Pay is $12/hour.
