HIV/AIDS CareTeam Volunteer Training – 4/27

Can you be of service to someone with HIV/AIDS? Volunteer in our CareTeam Program & make a difference in the life of a person with HIV/AIDS!

CareTeams are groups of 4-7 volunteers who provide a network of practical and emotional support to a person or household affected by the loneliness, isolation, and stigma of HIV/AIDS and/or addiction. CareTeam members build supportive relationships with those we serve through:

  • Listening nonjudgmentally
  • Sharing coffee or a meal
  • Giving a ride to the doctor
  • Visiting when sick
  • Celebrating special occasions

Training topics include:

  • HIV/AIDS 101
  • Grief and loss
  • Active listening
  • Mental health
  • Addiction and recovery
  • Working with stigmatized populations

Volunteers agree to a commitment of a minimum of 5 hours per month for one year.

The next Rosehedge Multifaith Works CareTeam training is Saturday, April 27th from 8:45am to 5pm at 1401 E. Jefferson.
