Welcome to the countdown to Lavender Graduation 2013! An event not to be missed…

Graduate and celebrate all of you! Lavender Grad is open to any student eligible, at any level (undergrad or graduate/professional) for a graduation in the 2012-2013 (including fall 2013) academic year. The Q Center and QSC host Lavender Graduation as a time for the UW queer, trans*, two-spirit, same gender loving, and allied communities to come together and celebrate our multiple identities, our accomplishments, and sheer AWESOMENESS. You do not have to be graduating or be of a certain sexual or gender identity/orientation/expression to participate and/or attend the Lavender Graduation year-end celebration. The Metrocenter YMCA and City of Seattle would like to announce that the online application is currently open for the 2013-2014 Get Engaged program. Started in 2001, Get Engaged is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders and advocating for the influence of young voices in city affairs. We will place one emerging leader aged 18-29 on each of the participating 15 City of Seattle Boards and Commissions for the upcoming September 2013-August 2014 term.

The Get Engaged program provides a chance for young people in Seattle to develop skills as an emerging engaged leader, participate in the public decision-making process, increase youth civic engagement, and help shape policy decisions. The School of Social Work’s Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the Rickey Fellowship. The Rickey Fellowship is for University of Washington MSW students who will be in their advanced concentration during autumn 2013 (second year Day or third year EDP). It is for those MSW students who have an interest in careers in health care planning or policy which includes planning and program policy development at the systems level as well as these activities conducted by direct service providers. The Rickey Fellowship will consist of one quarter of resident tuition.

To apply for the Rickey Fellowship, applicants must submit a one page letter of interest outlining their health care planning and policy interests, background and goals and a current resume. Please address the letter to the School of Social Work Scholarship Committee.

Education Intern
Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest has a unique and exciting internship opportunity to provide medically-accurate, comprehensive sexual health education in the high school, community, and college settings. This is an excellent position to gain experience in health education. The intern will receive extensive training and mentoring from our professional Community Outreach Educator and the education department. This is a six month internship that will take place October 2013 – March 2014. The position will be based at our Seattle office.
