Academic Internship Program

Mission:
The Chill Foundation provides opportunities for at-risk and underserved youth to build self-esteem and life skills through board sports.

What We Do:
Chill is a non-profit youth development program for underserved and at-risk youth ages 10-18. Chill provides youth with everything they need to learn to ride: lift tickets, instruction, transportation, and head-to-toe gear. We use snowboarding to motivate youth to accomplish goals they never thought they could, while teaching them important life lessons about patience, persistence, responsibility, courage, respect, and pride. By partnering with local youth and family service agencies, we serve Seattle youth annually.

Learning Objectives:
This internship experience is designed to build skills in all areas of non-profit work including: program management, fundraising, communications, and marketing.

About the Position:
This position will be responsible for working with local staff and volunteers to develop Chill Seattle into a sustainable year-round program. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

• Assisting in planning and execution of local fundraising/promotional events
• Grant and funding research and proposals
• Coordinating Volunteer events
• Engaging volunteers
• Program assistance (on snow)*
• Assisting youth participants in board sport progression*
• Contributing content to Chill’s social media and other communications

This internship experience is designed to build skills in all areas of non-profit work including program management, fund raising, communications and marketing, and general office procedures.

* Fall Interns will participate entirely in the fund raising, communications, and marketing roles because there is no fall program. Winter/Spring interns will engage in all aspects of the organization.

Qualifications:
Chill is seeking interns who are passionate about youth development and interested in becoming a non-profit professional.
-Must be receiving academic credit
